Console VR turns three October 13th.
This Sunday marks the three-year anniversary of PlayStation VR, Sony’s console-based answer to at-home VR entertainment. In celebration of this milestone, Sony is launching a handful of new titles on the PS4-powered headset, as well as a huge sale on over 70 PS VR-compatible experiences.
Brought to us by legendary music gaming developers Harmonix (Rock Band, Dance Central), VR rhythm shooter Audica will hit PS VR headsets November 5th, offering players an intense music-based immersive experience that will have them shooting their way through a catalog of catchy tunes.
Using a pair of “rhythm blasters,” players are tasked with shooting down waves of incoming targets to a series of hypnotic beats in an experience similar to that of Beat Saber or the upcoming Pistol Whip.
Available October 22nd alongside a limited-time launch weekend discount, Bonfire puts players in the shoes of an intergalactic explorer who has crash-landed on a strange alien planet filled with wild and potentially dangerous creatures.
Players will have to work alongside their robot side-kick — played by actress/comedian Ali Wong — in order to survive their precarious situation in this emotional and humerous story about trust and friendship.
One of our most highly-anticipated releases of next year, Paper Beast will be heading to PS VR in early 2020, allowing players to embark on a light-hearted journey throughout a downright beautiful papercraft landscape.
Players will traverse a colorful ecosystem as they interact with mysterious puzzles, navigate precarious environments, and discover numerous paper beasts, such as the majestic BernardShell.
Paper Beast will launch early next year along with an exclusive reveal of a never-before-seen creature.
A direct sequel to the original Pixel Ripped 1989, Pixel Ripped 1995 once again follows our protagonist Dot as she continues her mission to save the multiverse. In this latest adventure, our hero recruits the best gamer from 1995 to help save various dimensions, including his own, from total collapse.
A salute to the era of 16-bit and 32-bit gaming, Pixel Ripped 1995 promises to feature a ton of references to some of your favorite mid-90’s games. Travel back in time on the PS VR Spring 2020.
Revealed to the public earlier this week, The Room VR: A Dark Matter has officially been confirmed for release on PS VR in Spring 2020.
Serving as the next chapter in the award-winning The Room series, this escape room-style experience will have players solving a variety of puzzles and interacting with a handful of bizarre gadgets as they navigate a series of mind-bending crypts.
Along with these new titles, Sony is also offering some serious discounts on a generous selection of existing PS VR titles, including Borderlands 2 VR, DOOM VFR, Resident Evil 7 VR, Space Junkies, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, Red Matter, and over 60 other games and experiences.

Despite receiving mixed reviews during its initial launch in 2016, the console-based VR headset has managed to generate a surprisingly-dedicated player base, thanks in large part to a respectable line-up of AAA experiences and games. In fact, it was reported earlier this year that, as of March 3rd, Sony has sold over 4.2M PS VR systems worldwide.
With plans already in the works for integration with PlayStation 5, it’s clear that Sony has big plans for VR.
