The popular Vader Immortal game mode will be available at select pop-up locations just in time for The Rise of Skywalker.

Good news for all you Lucas Hounds out there. Lightsaber Dojo–the insanely fun lightsaber training ground simulator available as part of Vader Immortal – A Star Wars VR Series–is receiving a dedicated arcade release available at select pop-up locations beginning December 19th.

“In Vader Immortal, audiences were able to feel what it was like to battle with a lightsaber in virtual reality,” said ILMxLAB Executive in Charge Vicki Dobbs Beck in an official release. “We’re thrilled to bring that sense of wish fulfillment to even more fans with the new Lightsaber Dojo experience.”

“With Lightsaber Dojo you can use your lightsaber and the Force to stun, slice, and crush your enemies,” added Jose Perez III, Supervisor, Creative Development and Experience Design at ILMxLAB. “That’s a dream come true for Star Wars fans — and it’s more exciting when you’re competing against your friends.”

Originally released back in May as an extension of Vader Immortal – A Star Wars VR Series – Episode 1, the Lightsaber Dojo allows you to go head-to-head with endless waves of bots, beasts, and baddies with only your trusty lightsaber and Jedi wits to protect you. Over the course of the three-part series, the game mode has only gotten more robust thanks to the addition of new enemies, Force abilities, environmental traps, and lightsaber options.

It’s unclear whether or not the standalone arcade release is the same as the one featured on Rift/Rift S and Quest, though ILMxLAB states that players will have the ability to use the Force in order to grab enemies, trigger traps, and throw their lightsabers, so it sounds as though we can expect an experience nearly identical to that of the one feature in Episode III. Before hopping into the action, you’ll have the chance to pick from a variety of blades, including those of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and Mace Windu.

Powered by the Oculus Quest, the experience will cost $10 for every 6 minutes of play; a pretty steep price considering you could own the full Vader Immortal experience for the exact same price. Then again, that never stopped Beat Saber. I suppose if you’re just leaving the theater after seeing the film and are still hyped up on all the action this could be an interesting way to cap off the night; especially if you don’t own a headset yourself.

  • Ontario Mills – Ontario, CA
  • Del Amo Fashion Center – Torrance, CA
  • The Mills at Jersey Gardens – Elizabeth, NJ
  • Grapevine Mills – Grapevine, TX

Cinemark Theatres

Oculus is also running a killer deal in which those who purchase a Quest headset at any point between now and January 31st receive the entire Vader Immortal Trilogy for free. That is if you can manage to find one.
