Last week’s news that Facebook was acquiring Beat Saber came with a bunch of questions. Many of them we’ve answered, but there’s one lingering query on everyone’s mind: will Beat Saber cross-buy support happen?
It doesn’t appear so.
Beat Saber Cross-Buy Support In Question
We asked Beat Saber and Oculus on Twitter last week and never heard back. But tweets from the official Beat Saber account today reiterate the line that, because porting Beat Saber to Quest was such an intensive process, it doesn’t support cross-buy.
We decided not to do cross-buy for the base game because Quest is a new platform and porting the game took a significant amount of time. All players who purchased Beat Saber Music Packs through Oculus Store will have all their packs available as a cross-buy.

We’ve reached out to Beat Games via both Twitter and email again to try and set the record straight on this. That said, if there were plans to implement cross-buy post-Facebook acquisition, it would be strange to reiterate to customers they previously decided not to.
Cross-buy essentially means that, if you buy a Rift or Quest game from the Oculus Store, you’ll get its PC or standalone counterpart free of charge. Since its implementation at the launch of Quest earlier this year, Facebook has left it up to developers whether or not to support the feature. Fast Travel Games’ Apex Construct supports it, for example, while other big releases like Superhot VR don’t.
In its announcement post last week, Facebook said Beat Games would remain an independently-run studio, so it’s possible the company is leaving this decision to Beat Games. But the company’s VR publishing arm, Oculus Studios, has implemented cross-buy support for all of its own titles appearing on Quest and Rift in the past, including big productions like Star Wars: Vader Immortal.
