Gran Turismo Sport Finally Gets PSVR Time Trials With New Patch

Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Sport offers some of the best-looking and most accurate driving for PlayStation VR (PSVR), but limited support has left fans of the series wanting to say the least. That changes somewhat today.

Gran Turismo Sport’s March update has just dropped and it includes a big addition for PSVR fans. After huge demand, Polyphony has finally added a VR time trial mode into the game, meaning you can jump into the drivers’ seat and put your foot to the floor to get the best lap times. It’s not yet clear if you can take on any track or drive any car in this mode, but a PlayStation Blog post does confirm that the Nurburgring and Suzuka race circuits are playable in this mode.

Previously, players could only take part in one-on-one races with AI opponents with the game’s PSVR support, though this did allow you to choose from the game’s entire list of tracks and cars. On that note, 13 new vehicles have also been added in this patch, including the Aston Martin DB11 and the Lexus RC F GT3. Check below for the full list of cars. There’s even a new track, the Tsukuba Circuit.

It’s great to see GT Sport getting more VR content, even if it’s still limited in comparison to other games like Sony’s other racing title, Wipeout Omega Collection, which launched its free VR patch today.
