Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare Is Coming To VR Soon

Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare Is Coming To VR Soon

Evil Dead may be one of the few remaining horror franchises to fight off the swarm of VR tie-ins. Well, that’s no longer the case.

Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare is coming to Gear VR and Oculus Go soon (we don’t know how soon). The game, developed in a collaboration between Boomdash Digital, Ghosthouse Entertainment and Screen Northern Ireland, sees players trying to make an escape from an isolated cabin and forced to fend for themselves as the monsters of the forest descend upon them. There’s a teaser trailer below.

If you know your Evil Dead mobile games (and who doesn’t?) then you’ve probably already realised that this sounds very similar to Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare, a mobile endless runner. It’s almost certainly going to be a direct port of that game, then, where you use your fists to bash zombies away until you get bigger and better weapons like a nail gun and, yes, a chainsaw. Weapons can be upgraded to help you get further on your next go.

Okay, so it’s not exactly the Evil Dead VR game we were hoping for. More than a lot of other horror series, the franchise’s inventive use of weaponry and ear for comedy could make for a truly unique game. How awesome would a chainsaw arm be with motion controls?

Become The Stath And Fight A Giant Shark In The Meg VR Experience

Next week sees Jason Statham star in the most Jason Statham movie ever. The Meg will see the British action icon go head-to-head with a giant shark. We’re not exactly sure how he’ll martial art his way out of that one but, based on this new VR experience for the film, it won’t be easy.

Warner Bros launches this short VR teaser for the underwater thriller yesterday. It offers a brief but all-too-close encounter with some of the giant sharks that will be terrorizing the Transporter star in the movie. You can watch it below, though you’ll want to grab a smartphone and open it in the YouTube app if you want to experience it in VR. It’s also available on Samsung’s VR video platform but, considering Gear VR now has YouTube, you might as well just watch it there.

It’s not the best movie tie-in we’ve ever seen (and we’d have preferred to see a full VR experience skin to PSVR World’s ocean-diving piece), but who can turn down the chance to be eaten by a shark?

The Meg is in mercifully flat-screened cinemas August 10th.

Firewall: Zero Hour’s Physical And Aim Controller Edition Look Like This

It’s just a few weeks now until you’ll be able to shoot your friends in the middle of their faces with the highly-anticipated Firewall: Zero Hour. If you’re looking to pick up the physical version of the multiplayer VR shooter, here’s what you should look out for.

Developer First Contact’s Adam Orth revealed two images of both the physical edition of the game and its Aim Controller bundle over on Twitter this week. Honestly, you could mistake either for a SOCOM or Rainbow Six game, but that’s kind of the point; Firewall offers tactical team-based battles in which teams must work together to either destroy an objective or defend it.

It’s great to see the game getting an Aim Controller bundle as, based on our hands-on time with it, it’s a great way to experience the shooter. The game also supports the DualShock 4, but we haven’t been able to sample the controls there just yet.

Firewall is launching exclusively on PSVR on August 28th and will also be available on the PlayStation Store. As Orth’s tweet mentions, there’s some pre-order bonuses in it for anyone that lays down an early order, including a new character camo, extra in-game currency and double XP for the first 24 hours of play.

‘Seeking Dawn’ Devs Release Post-launch Road Map, PSVR Version Slated for December

‘Killing Floor: Incursion’ Gets Windows VR Support & New Holdout Mode Level

https://ift.tt/2AyeMJW

Killing Floor: Incursion (2017), Tripwire Interactive’s co-op zombie shooting adventure, has added a new badge to its Steam page, indicating the game now supports Windows “Mixed Reality” VR headsets. In addition, the game also got a content update that includes a new Holdout Mode map called ‘The Crucible’.

The new Holdout Mode map, ‘The Crucible’, introduces to the player a few key locations that you have to hold against increasingly deadly hordes of enemies in what the studio calls “a frenetic, arcade-like action experience.”

Killing Floor: Incursion is a story-driven adventure that you can play either alone or with a friend in co-op mode. Weapons include pistols, shotguns, axes, katanas, and also the dismembered limb of the fallen.

Killing Floor: Incursion is available through the Oculus Store (Rift) Steam (Vive, Rift, Windows VR), and PSN (PSVR), and is on sale currently for between 30%-67% off depending on your platform and headset of choice.

Seeking Dawn’s PSVR Version Coming In December, Free DLC Next Month

Multiverse isn’t ready to throw in the towel on its ambitious VR sci-fi shooter, Seeking Dawn, just yet.

Today the studio revealed a detailed development roadmap for the recently-released role-playing game (RPG), which lists some important points. For starters, an update later this month will fix some critical bugs players have been wrestling with since launch, as well as add a left-handed mode and optimizations to network performance and graphical fidelity. They’ll also add more detailed save file information and other improvements.

Moving into September, Multiverse will launch the game’s first free DLC, Age of Master, which will bring a new playable area with more monsters and new weapon upgrades and skins. September will also see the release of the game’s harder Master Mode as well as some redesigns for levels and, crucially, a tune-up for respawning resources. The crafting aspect of the game, which hinges upon resource collection, really slowed the action down and was one of the biggest complaints in our 6/10 review.

For PSVR fans that have been patiently waiting for the long-promised port we have good news: Multiverse says it’s coming in December. We’ll keep out fingers crossed that the team actually hits that date and that it arrives with previously hinted-at features like PlayStation Aim Controller support. There will also be an emoji system and yet more improvements added during this time.

Finally, Multiverse has released a new developer diary that chronicles the making of the game. There’s also a few teases about what to expect in the coming updates towards the end.

With just a few changes, Seeking Dawn could go from a decent VR game to a very good one, so we’re looking forward to these updates.
