Oculus Confirms Using The Same Facebook Account On Multiple Headsets Will NOT Result In A Ban

Facebook clarifies its stance after a series of miscommunications.

In a tweet made yesterday by Oculus Support, the company elaborated on its Terms of Service after a string of customer complaints, clarifying that the use of a single Facebook account on two or more Oculus VR headsets will NOT result in a suspension or permanent ban, despite what customer support might have said.

Over the past week, several customers have reported issues with their devices after attempting to connect their personal Facebook accounts to multiple Oculus headsets. Those who’ve reached out to customer support have been told that having two headsets tied to one piece of hardware violates Facebook’s terms of service. Since then the company has corrected previous statements made by customer support.

“In an effort to quickly respond to customer questions, we provided incorrect information about multiple device ownership, so we wanted to clarify a few points,” states Oculus Support in a tweet. “Using the same Facebook account on two or more Oculus headsets simultaneously will NOT get your account “banned.” Having the same account registered to two or more headsets is not against the Facebook Terms of Service.”

“As for the customer’s question about enabling their guest to use their secondary device, we plan to introduce the ability for multiple users to log into the same device using their own Facebook account.”

This past August the company announced that beginning this month new Oculus headsets will require a verified Facebook account in order to function properly, much to the dismay of the community. Since the launch of the Oculus Quest 2, users have reported several issues with their new hardware due to the new policy, including the immediate flagging of new Facebook accounts. Several customers are also now reporting issues with their Premium head straps, posting photos of the easily-cracked accessory.

Despite the slightly rocky launch, however, the Oculus Quest 2 is proving to be one of the most exciting pieces of VR hardware currently on the market, offering noticeably improved visuals, updated Touch controllers, and a more comfortable ergonomic design when compared to its predecessor.
