The Lenovo VR Classroom 2 features tools designed to guide entire classrooms through educational VR experiences.

Lenovo has unveiled a new VR-based classroom solution for teachers called “Lenovo VR Classroom 2” which includes a new standalone headset designed specifically for use in middle schools and high schools.

Unlike Lenovo’s original standalone headset, the Lenovo Mirage Solo, the Lenovo Mirage VR S3 is a 3DoF device, meaning users can look around freely in all directions, but cannot move around in their virtual space. A closer look at the product page reveals an Android-powered Qualcomm 835 SOC processor offering 1920×2160 (per eye) resolution and a 110-degree field-of-view. There’s also built-in audio and Bluetooth connectivity, making this the perfect device for quickly and easily hopping into VR.

With Google having abandoned its Daydream VR platform, the Mirage VR S3 is powered by Lenovo’s ThinkReality platform. At the center of the experience is a set of classroom management tools from LanSchool that allow teachers to sync fleets of headsets and immerse entire classrooms in guided virtual lessons, immersive 360 tours, and other educational VR experiences from a single source.

“Preparing young people for the careers of tomorrow requires smarter technology and a reliable partner to support deployment,” said Rich Henderson, Director of Global Education Solutions at Lenovo, in an official release.

“Teachers value the unbounded possibilities VR experiences bring to students when it is to easy-to-use and fully supported. Whether it’s taking a virtual field trip inside DNA strands to teach a unit on genetic engineering, or a guided tour of the Colosseum in Ancient Rome in history class – Lenovo’s VR Classroom 2 offers a seamless journey for educators and students.”
