Stress Level Zero’s Brandon J Laatsch revealed Boneworks can hold an acceptable framerate with over 40 enemies in a sandbox environment – if you have a “top tier” PC, that is.
Boneworks is an upcoming action adventure VR game with an extremely deep physics system, which brings in a whole new level of immersion. Back in April, Ian said it felt like the first next generation VR game after trying a demo.
Laatsch’s tweet reveals the game is optimized enough that it should be able to keep a good framerate while a boatload of enemies occupy one environment: “In a simple sandbox scene, top tier PC’s will be able to play with 40+ enemies at an acceptable frame rate. That’s 680 active and puppeted rigidbodies and joints! #Boneworks“
We still don’t have a launch date for Boneworks but its Steam page lists a launch window sometime in 2019. Last week Laatsch also tweeted that the game was now playable from start to finish.
Hopefully that means we’re close to a release date announcement. We know a lot of PC VR players are excited for this title to launch. We’re looking forward to extended time with the game too and we are curious to see how it performs with lots of enemies coming at you in VR. We’ll bring you the latest on Boneworks as soon as we have it, so stay tuned for more updates.
