Released early last month by Jujubee, Deep Diving VR provides players with a way to submerge themselves into the depths of the ocean and learn a bit more about what it takes to be a professional diver.
The game is available for Rift and Vive headsets, and is a remade version of Deep Diving Simulator for PC which released back in May of this year.
The focus of the game is on immersion and realistic mechanics to give you a proper sense of what it’s like to be a professional diver. According to the Steam page description you’ll have to “take care of your oxygen level as well as managing your position to avoid the life-threatening decompression sickness.”
As you become a more proficient diver, you’ll unlock more gear, which in turn allows you to reach areas you couldn’t before. You’ll also be able to interact with – or perhaps in some cases, avoid – the local marine life, including rays, sharks, seals and more. You’ll also be able to mine materials, collect ancient relics and perhaps even discover a famous mythical, submerged ancient city…
The underwater vistas look quite visually pleasing and, despite the potentially stressful management of diving mechanics, the game looks quite relaxing to play. It’s definitely one I’ll be popping into for a chill, underwater adventure in the future.
