The latest episode of ‘Most Expensivest’ has the rapper going hands on with 12-minute VR movies with haptic feedback

If you’re unfamiliar with the Viceland television series Most Expensivest, the offbeat show follows superstar rapper 2 Chainz as he leads viewers through an inside tour of the world’s most outrageously expensive goods and services. So far the eccentric entertainer has pet $165,000 kittens, drank a $100,000 bottle of water, inhaled $10,000 air in a can, and eaten $500 gold-coated popcorn.

On tonights episode, 2 Chainz sets his sights on an expensive new VR movie experience that utilizes haptic feedback technology to deliver a truly immersive experience. A 12-minute animated VR film directed at children, Raising a Ruckus follows twins Amy and Jonas as they discover a hidden magical world with the help of their mysterious new pup, Ruckus. Branching narratives powered by gaze-based technology allows users to choose their own story by simply looking in a certain direction.

In the episode, 2 Chainz is strapped into an HTC Vive VR headset ($600) while sitting in D-Box 4D motion chair ($5,000 – $10,000), providing realistic movements and vibrations during key parts of the action-packed VR movie.

Based on the short preview provided, it appears as though 2 Chainz fully enjoyed his time within the light-hearted childrens adventure. Some choice quotes from his experience being:

“This cool.”

“Oh, this cool.”

“This cool as hell, man.”

“Man, we on a dinosaur!”

Developed by The Virtual Reality Company, the children’s VR film cost a total of $3 million USD to produce, more than enough to earn a spot on Viceland’s Most Expensivest.

Episode two airs tonight at 10pm Pacific only on Viceland.

Raising a Ruckus is available for download now via the Oculus Store for $3.99. This is just episode one of an ongoing series from the Academy Award winning production designer of Avatar and director of Maleficent.
