What are the cheapest pre-built PCs that can run Windows Mixed Reality?
When it comes to Windows Mixed Reality (WMR), the PC requirements are quite a bit different than for the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. This means that there are a few pre-built PCs that come quite cheap. We've rounded up the cheapest we could find to make it easy (and inexpensive) for you to get set up for a WMR headset.

Acer Aspire ATC-280
This $440 Aspire ATC desktop from Acer has an AMD A10-7800 quad-core processor (CPU) with a clock speed up to 3.9GHz, 12GB of dual-channel DDR3 RAM, a 2TB 5400RPM hard-disk drive (HDD), and integrated Radeon R7 graphics.
This hardware is suitable for running WMR headsets, four USB-A 3.0 ports are more than enough, and the included HDMI 1.4 port will achieve a 60Hz refresh rate. Included are a keyboard and mouse, but you'll have to provide a monitor.
Lenovo IdeaCentre 510A
Lenovo's IdeaCentre 510A (about $480) has two USB-A 3.0 ports on the front, as well as an HDMI 1.4 port on the back for a 60Hz refresh rate.
Inside is an AMD A10-9700 CPU with a clock speed of 3.50GHz, 12GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM, a 2TB 7200RPM HDD, and integrated AMD graphics. This is a sleek tower that is reminiscent of the ThinkPad line of PCs. Included in this package is a mouse and keyboard.
Dell Inspiron 3668
For about $550, you can get this Dell Inspiron 3668 PC with a seventh-generation Intel Core i5-7400 CPU with a 3.50GHz clock speed, 12GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM, a 1TB 7200RPM HDD, and integrated Intel HD Graphics 630.
This hardware checks all the WMR boxes, and the HDMI 1.4 port allows for a 60Hz refresh rate. Two USB-A 3.0 ports on the front of the tower round out the package, which also includes a mouse but no keyboard.
Lenovo IdeaCentre Y700
The first PC in our list that resembles a gaming PC, the Lenovo IdeaCentre Y700 (about $655) has red accents and a faux carbon-fiber finish.
Inside is a sixth-generation Intel Core i5-6400 CPU with a clock speed of 2.70GHz, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 1TB 7200RPM HDD, and a dedicated NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. Ports include HDMI 2.0 for a 90Hz refresh rate, and single-channel RAM is more than enough when coupled with a dedicated GPU. Grab this tower if you like the look of a real gaming PC.
ASUS VivoPC X
If you don't mind paying a couple hundred dollars more than our cheapest option, you can get this ASUS VivoPC X for about $700. Inside is an NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU, an Intel Core i5-7300HQ CPU, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB 5400RPM HDD.
This is more than enough power for your WMR headset, and will serve you well as a regular gaming PC. Plenty of ports, including four USB-A 3.1, two HDMI 2.0, and one DisplayPort 1.4 mean you'll have no problem connecting and running the headset at a 90Hz refresh rate.
