First identified by Reddit user u/zanyzarly, this feature allows Quest users to cast their standalone headsets directly to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge web browsers without the need of a cable or additional programs.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Head to oculus.com/casting on any up-to-date Chrome or Edge web browser.
  2. Slip on your Quest/Quest 2 headset and select the “Share” option located in the Oculus universal menu.
  3. Click on “Cast” and select the desired PC on your list of available devices.

And boom, you’re now casting Oculus Quest/Quest 2 footage directly to your PC in real-time. While it’s true users have access to a variety of casting options, both tethered and untethered, this is by far the most convenient solution available at the moment, allowing you to cast your VR gameplay on practically any computer.

Unfortunately, there’s still no option for recording mic audio, so you will need provide your own audio recording solution, such as a lav mic. Footage is also cast in the standard square resolution as opposed to widescreen as featured with SideQuest.

Still, it’s nice to have an instantly accessible way of casting Quest/Quest 2 gameplay that doesn’t involve hunching over a tiny smartphone.

You can find Facebook’s official guide for casting to computers here.
