The physics-based VR puzzle game Gadgeteer appeared in the coming soon section of the Oculus store for Quest, after its early access launch on PC VR headsets earlier this year.
The store page describes the game as “a physics-based VR puzzle game where you build chain reaction machines to solve fun, intricate puzzles. Your machines will use gadgets to launch, bump, twist, and turn—creating chain reactions that may even end up tearing apart the fabric of space-time.”
The game features 60 physics puzzles for you to solve, along with a sandbox mode allowing you to play more openly with the game’s tools.
The game initially launched back in April for the HTC Vive, and added support for other PC VR headsets soon after. It’s currently available in early access for PC VR headsets on the Steam store and on the Oculus Store for the Rift.
The developers behind the game indicated on a recent Reddit thread, 12 days ago, the Quest version of Gadgeteer would be “coming out in just a few months.” Facebook has strict content guidelines and standards for the Quest store so we would expect the Quest version to be a full release rather than the early access version available for PC VR on Steam and the Oculus Rift store.
We reached out to the developers behind Gadgeteer at Metanaut to see if they had any more specific release date information for the Quest version, but they said they didn’t have public announcements to make just yet.
The developers have been very open and active on VR subreddits and online communities promoting the game and asking for feedback from users. They’re also very active on our UploadVR Discord channel, so feel free to join and ask them any questions you might have.
Have you tried Gadgeteer on PC VR already? Let us know what it’s like in the comments below. I definitely can’t wait to spend hours tinkering away in sandbox mode once the game is available on Quest.
