Immersing yourself in football’s biggest tournament has never been easier as leading media providers bring VR live streaming to the masses.

With an average viewer audience of 3.5 billion, the FIFA World Cup is by far the most popular sporting event in the world. Very few athletic competitions have managed to capture the attention of so many different countries and cultures, dwarfing the viewer ratings of other legendary events such as the Tour De France or the Summer Olympic Games.

This year major networks have made it easier than ever to catch all the international action with a variety of televised, live streaming, and on-demand viewing options. However it’s VR that’s managed to garner the most attention this year as several popular media outlets extend their program coverage to virtual live streaming.

Here’s how you can spend this weekend immersed in football’s most elite competition:

OCULUS VENUES

Chill with your homies in Facebook’s VR social space as you cheer on your home team from the comfort of an immersive environment complete with the lights, sounds and action of the real thing. Watch free live streams of select FIFA World Cup matches thanks to FOX Sports using your Oculus Go or Gear VR headsets.

Here’s the LIVE US event schedule of the available matches:

Oculus Venues is available free via the Oculus Go and Gear VR.

BBC SPORT

For slightly more extensive coverage without the glitz and glam of social interaction, the BBC Sport VR 2018 FIFA World Cup app will stream all 33 games from the BBC network along with commentary from Match of the Day, match highlights in VR, feature content in 360-degree video and a live stats dashboard displaying real-time match information to.

UK users will enjoy the comprehensive coverage in their own private stadium hospitality box as they soak in every bit of action from England’s Group G games against Tunisia and Panama, to the final from Moscow.

BBC Sport VR – FIFA World Cup 2018 app is available free on iOS, Android, the Oculus Go, Gear VR, and Playstation VR.

Telemundo Deportes VR

¿Estás listo para la Copa Mundial de la FIFA Rusia 2018?! If you answered yes, then the Telemundo Deportes VR app is the way to go. The United States’ most popular American Spanish network is offering all 180-degree live VR coverage of all 64 matches.

Not only that, but 360-degree video of key goals and other memorable highlights. I don’t speak a lick of Spanish, but based off these free offerings i’ll probably find myself enjoying much of my action through this app regardless.

Telemundo Deportes VR is available free for the Gear VR. Of course you’ll need authentication from your TV provider.

Below are a handful of other possible alternative should the ones listed above not be to your specific liking:

  • SBS | Optus FIFA World Cup VR via the Gear VR (Available in Australia).
  • DIRECTV Sports VR via the Gear VR (Available in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela).
  • MYTF1 VR: Coupe du Monde de la FIFA™ via the Gear VR (Available in France).
  • ERT VR via the Gear VR (Available in Greece).
  • FOX Sports VR via the Oculus Go & Gear VR (Available in US).

The 21st quadrennial FIFA World Cup officially began yesterday in Russia and will run until July 15th.
