Echo Arena Update Teases Echo Combat, Improves Lobby

Ready at Dawn’s hit multiplayer VR game, Echo Arena, is still going strong with free updates, and the most recent one is something fans should definitely check out.

Echo Arena Update 9.0 is headlined by a brand new lobby area that you’ll visit between games of the zero gravity eSport. The new area is much larger than the old one and includes several new features such as a new color scheme to highlight different areas.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect is the new practice features; players can now find a space around a quarter the size of the usual court to summon a disc and stretch their throwing arm. Launch tubes allow you to aim for the perfect launch and a brawler room lets you get to grips with the more physical elements of the game.

The new lobby is also fitted with updated holotables that will point out the locations of players in the room.

Outside of the lobby there’s a host of other improvements. Players can now launch single-player private matches, for example, and Ready at Dawn has reworked the arena collision for a smoother experience. A host of bug fixes and tweaks rounds out the update.

It’s a meaty update for sure, though we’re still hungry to find out more about the promised massive update for Echo Arena, Echo Combat, which was announced at Oculus Connect last year. In fact, this update further teases its impending arrival; a new ‘Under Construction’ area has been added to the lobby, and Ready at Dawn notes that more info is coming ‘very soon’ on an Oculus Blog post.

Stay tuned for more very soon, then.
