Customize your headset for a personal look.
Once you've gotten a VR headset, and fallen in love you may decide that you want to add a bit of customization to it. There are a few ways to go about making your headset look a bit different than anyone else's, namely with Decals and skins. On our fifth day of the 12 Days of VR, we've laid out the awesome ways to customize your headset here!
Decals and skins
The easiest way to decorate your headset is by applying a decal or skin. While you won't find skins at your local Target or superstore, you can find them quite easily online and they come in a variety of types.
The thing to remember with decals and skins is that once you've applied them to your headset, they're more or less going to stay there. This means you want to be very sure before you apply them, and do it carefully. Additionally, they aren't going to work with a Daydream headset, because it's fabric and not plastic.
Finding decals is where things get a little bit trickier. You aren't going to find much by heading to your local Target or Game Stop. However, a quick search on the internet will definitely find you what you're looking for. Browsing through selections at Decal Girl, or Might Skins will show you plenty of stock designs to choose from. However, if you have something specific in mind then Flaming Toast and their customized decals are probably where you'll want to look.

Facepad
While decorating the outside of your headset is the easy way to decorate, there are also a few tweaks you can make to ensure that wearing your headset is a bit more comfortable. That's because replacement face pads are available online for every major headset, and they can make a real difference.
This is especially true when you are planning on sharing your headset, or you plan on playing activity heavy games where you'll end up sweating into the facepad. Having a spare — or two — can make sharing more hygienic, or give you the extra cushion that you crave while playing.
Googley Eyes
Not every customization that you make to your headset needs to be serious, and that is where the fun really comes in. That's because if you're so inclined, you can add a pair of googley eyes to the front of your headset.
This works with several headsets, although Gear VR users are left out unless they use the visor. Essentially, all you are doing is adding a pair of wacky eyes to the front of your headset, and then giggling when your friends catch a glimpse of it when they come over to hang out. It's silly, it's fun, and it may be an option that is right up your alley.
